Those arriving on the island by air can pick up their vehicle at our Zakynthos Airport (ZTH) car rental location. Also know as Dionysios Solomos, the airport is near the town of Kalamaki and the 3.3 mile drive to the center of Zakynthos takes just 12 minutes. Alternatively, pick up your vehicle at Zakynthos Port an easy to reach location from the town center and an ideal starting point if you want to explore the island's rugged northern coast. When you rent a car in Zakynthos you won't have to rely on local bus services which tend to be infrequent. There are only a few roads on the island so everywhere is relatively easy to reach.

Sixt Tips

Kakynthos Town is the island's largest town and the piazza and port are among its most popular places. The town lost many of its Venetian ruins during an earthquake but many have been beautifully restored and the piazza is said to look almost exactly like St. Mark's Square in Venice. You'll also find some of the best shops here so be sure to stock up on local crafts and leather goods. Zakynthos Town is an excellent base from which to explore local sights like the Blue Caves near Cape Skinari or the beach and marine reserve at Dafni.

Sightseeing Destinations

No vacation or trip to Zakynthos is complete unless you have seen Shipwreck Cove. The beautiful sheltered cove at Navagio is one of the island's most popular landmarks. Try to arrive early as the beach and the wreck itself can get busy. Fans of extreme sports can try base jumping from the surrounding cliffs.

When we arrived to the island I didn't have a car reservation I called this car place after trying 2 others that were closed due to off season and to my luck the lady working said she would come pick us up (we were 10 minutes away) and drove us to get the car. Best car rental place! Very friendly and gave awesome tips for the trip! Also, you should take the recommended insurances. I had a white Renault Clio, good small car for the small streets. I got a lift from the rental office to the departure entrance, after I dropped off the car. Thank you, will rent again

The people working here are really friendly and helpful in all situations! Sixt is not the cheapest car rental here in Zakynthos, but the cars you get are in a great condition and really clean from the inside and outside. They check everything before and afterwards and there've been no problems at all. I recommend booking online before, so you'll get a fixed car and they already have you details. The station is a 2 Minute walk away from the airport and they also offer a shuttle if you want. If I'll come back, I'll also come back to sixt. 5/5 do really recommend!

Located within a walking distance from the airport. Got the car very quickly. Although I am a Sixt platinum member, I didn’t got an upgrade as it seems they don’t have many cars in the lot. In fact, it think I got the last automatic car available. The car was clean and in good mechanical condition. While checking the car for damage, the lady pointed very small dents and scratches, saying they charge at least 140 euro for such defects. Judging by the condition of the roads in the island, we figured that we fell into a trap and we won’t be able to avoid paying for some damage. Eventually, when returning the car, the inspection was short but meticulous. No damage was found and we got a free lift to the airport.
