Driving Tips in California

Driving Tips in California

Driving Tips: There are a few things you should know before driving in California. Speed limits are 25 mph in residential areas, 55 mph on rural highways and 65-70 mph on Interstate highways and freeways. On steep, narrow mountain roads, the vehicle facing downhill must yield and make way for the one going uphill. It is also mandatory to use headlights in bad weather and 30 minutes before sunrise or sunset.
Toll roads: There are multiple toll toll roads in California, although those in and around LA are express lanes. There are Metro Express Lanes on I-10 and I-110 in Los Angeles County and the prices are dynamic based on the amount of traffic and how far you drive. You can expect to pay $15.40 for the full length, but the express lanes are free if you’re carpooling.
Where to Park in Los Angeles

Where to Park in Los Angeles

Parking in LA is a necessity, and there are plenty of parking garages, lots and on-street options. On-street parking is plentiful but be sure to check time limits and don’t park in front of driveways. If you want to be sure to find a spot on the street or in a garage, use an app like Spot Hero to book one in advance and know how much you’ll have to pay.

Sixt's studio city branch is a small rental car station with incredible customer service. Stefan, who handled my pick-up during my last two visits to the branch, remembered me and my vehicle preferences a month after my first trip. His knowledge and helpfulness exceed the service I've received from any other rental car company.

We had a great experience renting our car from here. We had to wait 30 minutes for our car, but they let us sit and offered us a drink. It's also cheaper to rent a car here than at LAX. We even got an upgarde free of charge :)

Overall it was good. However there were no cars available when we picked up the rental, so they put us in a minivan. We ended up spending more in gas. Also the vehicle was too big, my wife did not feel comfortable nor safe driving it. So I had to do all the driving, a bit tiring. The front telephone charging port was not working, we ended up buying a 10 ft charging cable to be able to use the rear seats charging ports. There goes another $20!!!! + extra money for gas due to lower mpg compared to a car.

Experience was great in/out with ease. Very professional service. A shuttle to and from Burbank would be the icing on the cake! Price was a bit high, but all in all perfect!
