Driving is on the right side of the road, and right of way at unmarked intersections is given to vehicles to your right. All occupants of a vehicle must wear a seat belt. When entering many cities in France, you will need a Crit’Air, or clean air sticker, which you can order online. The price depends on the emissions of your car.

Very satisfied with the service and with the car! Golden tip for returning the car during peak hours: a lot of people stop/park their cars close to the entrance of the Méditerranée Parking Garage, in a “queue” formation. Depending on the number of cars, it really looks like there’s a huge queue to enter the Parking Garage. Don’t get fooled by that! Just go around them, because the parking entrance is always clear. We’ve seen a queue that went as long as reaching the previous intersection and people were arguing there because it really messes up the traffic.

Documents you need to rent a car in France

You must have a valid driver’s license, plus an ID or passport for a SIXT rental in France. If your license uses a non-Roman alphabet like Cyrillic or Arabic, you will also need an international driving permit.

Cross-border travel
